East Bay Financial Services is a fee-only, independent Registered Investment Advisor* with the State of South Carolina, which means we have a fiduciary duty to our clients, a fundamental obligation to provide prudent investment advice and always act in the clients’ best interests.
East Bay Financial Services is never paid a commission on investments it chooses or transactions it makes. We earn our fees for advice and portfolio management services. All fees are clearly disclosed on our website, on client contracts, and on account statements.
Our Outsourced CIO Service was born out of sixteen years of our founder’s investment industry experience. Having counseled financial planners and advisers regarding investment strategy as a Manager with Vanguard, then having served as CIO for a $200MM advisory firm, Mario encountered many firms wishing to have investment professionals on staff, but just didn’t have the resources.
In today’s world of cookie-cutter subadvisory services and “white-labeled” research, East Bay offers firms an option to retain their own investment philosophy and identity while having an expert fiduciary on board to help with a lot of the legwork. We serve as an extension of your team to create individualized strategies for your firm and clients, with the ultimate goal of driving your investment results UP while driving the cost of achieving them DOWN.
It is our mission to develop strategic long-term partnerships with a small number of like-minded firms, not to push out standardized material for hundreds of consumers. As of 2016, seven premier firms from across the country have utilized this service for everything from a one-time portfolio model review to long-term contractual relationships, and we are looking for just a few more. Why “East Bay Financial Services?”
Our name runs deeper than just our location. When our President, Mario Nardone, visited Charleston in advance of his southern migration, it is on East Bay Street where he fell in love with the Holy City. From the delicious cuisine and southern hospitality of its many restaurants, the sounds of live music spilling into the street after the sun sets and the gaslamps alight, to strolling the nearby waterfront with a hot coffee to watch the sunrise, East Bay is the heart of the city.
…and what about that logo?
Like the firm’s namesake, a true consultative relationship is a two-way street, hence the double yellow line. It projects outwardly into the future, symbolizing the long path we hope to travel with our clients and partners, but it doesn’t come to a point, since our work will never be complete. Our ideal relationships gradually transition into future client generations as well as maintain a strong succession plan for East Bay Financial Services.
